Nice looking Rob.
Seems to have similar high quality to your C50.
Do you feel one gives better results?
Hope you got lots more on your trip.
Dave
Thanks Dave, They both give great results but I do like having waveform on the C50 which the R1 does not have. I use the R1 more when I am doing both photos and video combo. I like the viewfinder better for the photos.

Here is one that took a lot of hiking and tracking to get this footage. It was amazing to spend time with these beautiful cats. Again I used the R1 with the Canon 100-300 + 2x with VND. Music track I created with the help of AI.

Very nice Rob!
I've only got glancing views of these cats, so great you got some video.
Enjoyable to watch.

Hi Rob,
Wonderful footage. What an amazing job that body-lens combo does!

Thanks Dave and Rudy, yes Rudy that lens is so good for video. Having the zoom is so nice in the 200-600 range then all the way to 900 / 960 depending on the R1 crop or the C50 Super 35 mode. I was with a friend and he had just his 400mm and he missed some because of the no zoom.

On a recent trip I was able to capture some footage of the male Western Bluebird visiting the natural tree cavity. I used the Canon C50 with the RF 100-300mm with the 2x extender. This was manually focused and shot in Clog 2.

Beautiful bird nicely captured. Music was very nice.

Love it Rob! A wonderful video of this sweet bird - one of my favourite species! 👍

Here is some footage of this beautiful Great Horned Owl with a catch. First time getting footage with a catch with a GHO. It was getting dark out so ISO was higher than I liked but I think the footage came out pretty nice. I used the Canon R1 with the 100-300mm with the 2x extender. Shot in Clog 2.

Nice video Rob!
Loved the sound. I had to replay the last 20 seconds to see if I was hearing owls, or my mind was playing tricks on me!

I agree the quality looks quite nice. How high was the ISO?
Hand-held, monopod or tripod?
I'm asking because I had similar opportunity (not as dark, and without the prey) a few weeks ago, to shoot an GHO with my R5II with the EF300/2.8 II with 2x extender, and I had a tough time keeping the rig steady when shooting 30 second to 2 minute clips. I'm not sure how much of the video will be salvageable. These days I mostly use the much lighter 100-500, but took the 300 because I was expecting poor light, and I'm out of practice supporting that lens. Next time I'll bring my tripod.

I was using a tripod and the ISO was 6400. I applied a little NR in Premiere Pro. The longer the reach the harder it is to handhold video footage. I tend to use a tripod with anything over 200mm for video.

My first time seeing and filming Elephant Seals. I seen males and pups. The females already left after being depleted from the breeding season. I could not shoot in better light as the area does not open until 10am. So it was a bit brighter by then. It was a nice experience seeing them. I used the Canon C50 with the 100-300mm with the 2x. Shot in Clog 2 with a VND filter.

Interesting Rob!
Seems to take a lot of effort on land for those big ones to move around.
Lots of grunting must help!
I bet that bright light was a big challenge.
The audio mix was very nice also.

If you don't mind, where was this?
I got to spend a 3.5 hour morning at Aņo Nuevo State Park at the end of January as part of a fundraiser, and took a bunch of photos and videos with my R5II and 100-500 (I'm still working on processing them), but the last I heard, Aņo Nuevo was closed for the season because a bunch of sick or dead elephant seal pups there have tested positive for the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1.

Nice video Rob!
You seemed to get pretty close to the Otters, which made it very interesting to get a good look.
As always, audio was very nicely done.

This female Belted Kingfisher honored me by flying close enough to capture some video in flight. She hovered a few times, changed positions and then flew off to the west. At Ted Shanks Conservation Area in Pike County, Missouri on 3.30.26.

I just picked up the DJI OSMO 8. First time using any gimbal. I used Kenzie as my model. So far I am very pleased it. This should pair well with my Canon C50. This will be a great compliment for our hiking, camping and kayak adventures. I want to try a gimbal without spending big money and this should get my feet wet. If I really like a gimbal I may jump you to a full size for the C50. I just really did not want much more to carry around. I think this will fill in nicely.
